Introduction

I am Bobby, a church organist from Michigan. Although I have no serious formal training on the organ, I have played piano and keyboard since I was about 5, and have been an organist almost consistently since I was 16. I have played at several churches and denominations, including Methodist, Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, and Baptist. As I have long had an interest in music in general, I have also amassed a great collection of hymnals and songbooks, old and new, though mostly from at least the later half of the 20th century. My intent with this blog is to showcase several of the ones I own, and indicate my personal likes and dislikes about each. While I do not possess the deepest liturgical knowledge, most of my analysis of the hymns will be of their music and the flow and feel of their text, as well as the overall composition and variety of the hymnal itself.
